A friend has asked me to check out his Verizon DSL modem which is the Westell 327 WIFI combo modem (modem & router). This is the 2nd one that fails to put out any WIFI signal (I have a cheap detector, but it picks up other WIFI signals just fine). The modem(s) are OK as hardwired units, but no WIFI signal on either of them. Their tech suport said the PC's wireless card had to be compatable with the modem, but that makes no sense...a signal should be in the air with nothing else around. Any experience?

I know you will not appreciate it when I tell you: mine works fine. See my notes here if trying to incorporate the Westell W327 router in conjunction with an existing wireless LAN:
Try your question again in this Forum:
It is likely your Westell is fine, but some simple other issue is at play -- a setting or something else. I would stick a bent paper clip in the back of the Westell to reset the router again to its manufacturing defaults. But the Westell forum guys know their stuff.

Best wishes,
Bill Castner
