I have a user on Verizon Fios, and the Teleworker phone just downloads code and then eventually resets.

Has anyone run into this problem?

The Verizon router is a Westel.

Other folks have a different router, and Teleworker works fine.

I put the IP address of the phone in the DMZ, and it still doesn't work.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Ron

check with verizon...im pretty sure residential service is not wide open....by the way teleworked supported routers show

DI-604 2.10
DI-614 2.10
DI-704 2.57b3
D-Link
DI-524 "Air

Refer to Netgear MR314 3.29
RP614 4.11RC24
Refer to Linksys WRTG54GS 1.05.0

Check with verizon for these ports:
Allow a bi-directional TCP connection to destination port 6801 and 6802 on
Teleworker Solution IP address
o Allow bi-directional TCP connections to destination ports 3998 and 6880 on the
Teleworker Solution IP address (for 5235, 5330, 5340 and Navigator set
features)
o Allow incoming UDP from source ports 20000 to 23000 on Teleworker Solution
IP address
o Allow outgoing UDP to destination ports 20000 to 23000 on Teleworker Solution
IP address
Engineering Guidelines

o Allow bi-directional TCP connections to destination ports 2114, 2116, 35000 and
37000 on the Teleworker Solution IP address, if using Your Assistant

I copied and pasted this from engineering guidlines.

Thanks for the feedback.

1 - I tried opening both TCP and UDP. It still didn't work.
2 - Then, I put the Mitel phone on the DMZ without any luck.

Definitely Verizon.

Had two kinds of prblems.

1.The phone will load from TFTP and then hang
2.The phone will load and connect but when you make a call TW is reporting about 50% loss.

If you have other phones working through TW, keep calling Verizon and complain. The first one got cleared after I spoke to 3d tire of support. The second was harder and I had to escalate it up to a local boss of FiOS department.

Thanks

Right now, I am looking at trying to enable the cat5 port on the fiber-to-copper box. In other words, the coax cable goes to the Verizon router to handle digital TV, etc..., and the cat5 cable will go to a Lynksys router. Then, hook up the teleworker phone to the Lynksus router. Our Mitel business partner has Fios, and he got it going by enabling the cat5 port and hooking up the Lynksys router.

I have FiOS too. No problems on coax with Verizon Actiontec router. A phone started from the first attempt and never had any issues. So it is not system wide.

I had a Mitel 5340IP Teleworker set connected to Comcast and had NO issues.

I just got a Westell 9100EM router and have tried port forwarding and was not able to make it work.
Verizon just came out with a patch for the Actiontec MI424WR

Firmware version: 4.0.16.1.56.0.10.7-MI424WR.rmt

I have seen other Mitel users on verizon Fios forums who have had success with the teleworker and the Actiontec router

I am waiting for Verizon to send me a replacement Actiontec for my Westell

This is crazy that i had come upon this post ive been trying to get this issue resolved with verizon for the past 2 weeks but no luck....

This was an issue about a year ago on any VOIP device on the Actiontech routers but they fixed the bug on them to be able to get it to work.

i had 2 teleworkers phone using WESTELL router out of 400 phones out there in service that ran into FIOS with westell.

should just be a plug n play haha.... heres what ive dug up on the internet to share with you all

sorry for the long post but anyways

now we have a employer whos in Florida who has a FIOS with westell 9100 hehe go figure

same issue

But anyways Verizon used to have actiontec routers but

HERES A POST FROM A VERIZON forum

Apparently Mitel phones DO NOT WORK with FIOS and the Actiontec router. Looks like I may be dumping FIOS for Comcast. See transcript between me and Actiontec:

Hello, Verizon gave me one of your routers with my FIOS service. My
computers work but I can’t get my Mitel IP phone to work. The phone works
ok through SBC DSL and Comcast (using the routers they provide), but I
can’t get it to work through FIOS/Actiontec. Tech support for my IP phone
tells me there must be a port blocked, so I tried moving the phone to the
‘DMZ’ and it still doesn’t work. It starts to communicate with our PBX at
work (it can download its internal firmware), but it can’t establish any
call handshaking. Are there some bugs in your DMZ implementation? Does it
really allow packets between the phone and the internet without any
filtering? Does the router require a hard reboot to make DMZ take affect?
Will DMZ work with an IP address that was assigned dynamically? (The phone
displays the address it gets and it matches what I set up as the DMZ.)
I’ve called Verizon support and they said they don’t block any ports
(except incoming port 80, which the phone doesn’t use), so if there’s a
problem it must be with your box. They even logged into my computer
remotely and verified I had correctly configured the Mitel phone to be in
the DMZ. My router FW is 4.0.16.1.45.160.27. Thanks, Jay

The reponse to this issue is below:

At this time the Mitel voip phones will not work with the actiontec router
due to the proprietary connectivity the mitel uses for communication.. This
will be addressed in the next firmware release from verizon. Please

continue to check with verizon regarding firmware upgrades.

Thank you,

Actiontec Electronics

SOOOOOOOOO heres the conclusion in feburary .....

Upgraded today to firmware version 4.0.16.1.56.0.10.7

Mitel 5212 phone is now registering to the switch in Teleworker mode.

To upgrade to the newest firmware on the MI424WR:

1. Login to the router using a web browser pointed to the routers internal IP address… 192.168.x.x
2. go to advanced, click yes.
3. click on firmware upgrade, click check now. Your browser will really not show you much here…
4. Click on force upgrade, then wait. Your router will do the rest.

It will take about 5 minutes to upgrade. The router will reboot. Try to log into the router again. If the main page does not pull up, just wait longer. Once you can login to the router again, go check the firmware version on the advanced page. Mine is version 4.0.16.1.56.0.10.7 after to upgrade.

I hope this has fixed my Cisco 7940 phone. It was dropping calls at exactly 15:10 minutes. Very strange.

Cheers,

anyways since they had an issue with the actiontec and they then fixed it somehow now im assuming because they got the westell routers the same problem again but now they need to fix it again....

if any of you think of something else this is been a known issue for mitel teleworker phones. i myself tried every way possible to get it to work in the router but no luck so maybe rtp something is being blocked.

Thanks

I have a user with a Mitel 5224 having a similar issue. The phone will go through the full download and then hang with the IP address on the display. I have changed the phone to both static and DHCP and monkeyed with the firewall port settings. He just had Verizon FiOS installed today with a Westell 9100EM router on the MoCA connection. Apparently, there is no way humanly possible to run cat5 through his house from the handoff point to the router.

I'm dreading the pending call into Verizon tech support. Maybe by now, Mitel will be on their radar and they'll have some answers.
