Here is the problem I have internet only when the connection from the (Verizon modem #6100F) is on one of the pc wired ports (not the internet port that it is suppose to be on for the router (wrt54g). Which is very odd !! When I connect it the way it should be then I loose the internet connection. (also I can not connect to the router just the modem. When I type 192.168.1.1. for the linksys router I get the "Pro Line Modem status" for the modem and not the router. Linksys tech could only help me if I paid a $29.95 charge to some place in India for linksys help, due to my router being out of date and warranty. I have downloaded the new firmware for the router but I can not access it anyway.
I am sure I am not the only one with this problem and will keep searching the internet but so far no luck. Also a call to Verizon went like they wanted me to just purchase a wireless router from them also.

Many of the Westell/Verizon 'modems' are also routers. I believe that the Westell 6100 falls into this category. You might have an IP address range conflict. To confirm this, connect the computer to only the verizon modem and. Open a command prompt and type ipconfig. What IP address do you get?

I assume that thre reason that you have the wrt54g is for its wireless features (otherwise there's no point to having it, since the westell device is already a router & dhcp server). There are a few possibilities:
[ol][li]Put the westell modem in bridge mode and only use the routing capabilities/features of the linksys[/li]
[li]Disble the DHCP server and routing capabilities of the linksys and use it only as a wireless access point[/li]
[li]Use both as routers and dhcp servers, but change the range of one or the other. This has the potential for [google]double nat[/google] problems.[/li]
