I am considering purchasing Veritas Backup Exec.
I am very familiar with Arcserve 6.61.
Does anyone have any comments as to how they compare or your experience with either product?
How easy it is to restore a machine with Backup Exec?
Any thoughts or comments would be apperciated.

Thank you

Frankly, I have used BE more. I hate the Arcserve UI. But the main reason I went to BE is CA/Arcserve support is horrible. Good luck getting a hold of anyone at CA for help. Even once you do, it just isn't the same as Veritas support. Trust me, many hours wasted....

My suggestion to you would be to go with Veritas and don't jump on the BE version 9 bandwagon yet. I am not having my clients go w/9 yet. It's too early in the product release and they really redesigned the crap out of it. It has issues. They need to get a 9.1 release out before I am serious about version 9. Trust me, go with BE version 8.6 3878 and a support contract and you will be good to go. It is a mature release and most bugs/issues have been worked out. Check out the website and go to Knowledge Base link, then follow links to get to Backup Exec 8.6 technote links. It is an excellent search engine to find solutions to issues/error messages. No other vendor has as good a site.

Good luck!
