A Medium Sized company wit 2 servers is looking for a backup solution for there network. They want it to be as painless as possible and at the same time quick. They have approximately 4 GB of database files that need backing up on each server and 3 GB of applications and operating system.

- Type of backups and timing
- Software that will be used
- Media that will be used and how it will be managed

You could do a full backup once per week with differentials the rest.
I would use BakBone NetVault for the software because it only takes 10 minutes to setup and is very user friendly and cheap.
I would use a STK L20 tape library with 2 SDLT drives or DLT 8000 drives, this would allow you about 20 minutes for a full backup with about 5 minutes for differentials, depending on change of data.
You would use DLT IV tapes for the DLT 8000 or SDLT tapes for the SDLT drives. All in all the cost should be bellow 50K.
