I am running Veritas 8.6 backup software on a win2kadv serv machine. Everything seems to be working fine until i try to backup. I can erase with noe errors ( In other words, i don't think it's a drive problem). Every time i try to backup the backup get's to 320,008 bytes and then fails. When i look at the error report it says:

THE REQUEST COULD NOT BE PERFORMED BECAUSE OF AN I/O ERROR.

Thanks
Dave

Did this happen just once or is it happening every time? Have you checked to see if anything else is occuring then? Are there other jobs running? Is the sysadmin (if it's not you) doing anything with the network/system at that time?

Have you tried rebooting?

I have no other jobs running , just set this DLT40 up on this machine. I have noticed that if i backup to file i have no problems. It happens every time at the exact same spot (320,008 bytes) I have tried other tapes and the same thing happens in the exact same spot.
