I am installing Veritas Net backup on a Solaris 8 Platform. I want to use the attached Tape drive to be utilized for backup purposes. The Tape Drive is detected when I issue the mt -f /dev/rmt/0 status command. How do I configure Net-Backup to utilize the tape for backup purposes. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

You need to set Veritas to see the tape drive as a local storage unit from the netbackup Master. Then define the device via the device management console. Next you will need to change you shedule to reflect the new storage unit and run a backup. A good plan would be to see if robtest see the device after you have configured everything. (all for NBU ver 3.4) Hope that is enough details...

Thanks for the response. I am running Netbackup Professional. I have been looking around on the the console for any of these options but i don't seem to see any of these. Are these run from the Unix backup Server or can they be run from the Server Console.

These would be run from Netbackup dataCenter or Buisness server edition which would be running your NBU master
