Yes you can do that, I don't believe you can download software for Sun sparc platforms anymore, you would have to buy it along with licenses from Symantec.
I personally do not like putting my root disks under veritas control. I prefer to use SVM for my root disks and then put my storage under VXVM, but as dandan123 stated, it is doable.
Apologies for restarting this thread.
I am faced with a situation whereby an old Sol8 server has had vxvm 3.2 installed using the gui.
Looking at the layout the swap partition has not been mirrored correctly. As a complete novice with vxvm I would like to remove the root disks from vx control and place them under the trusty SDS.
I intend on using vxunroot to perform this, however, as there is a disk array attached to this is it possible to remove the root disks and the subsequent rootdg group without my boss wanting to hurt me?
Well, possibly not very painful... do you have a spare disk you can make a member of rootdg? Even one with filesystems on it that you can encapsulate? That's all you need... then you should be able to remove the root disks from rootdg.
Unfortunately not. I have the two internals and the D1000 array which houses all the database disks in their own group.
From reading around a bit I can see that this can be done with vxmksdpart (one of your previous answers I believe) but I've never performed any of this before and am a little nervous. The main issue I have is that the swap partitions are not mirrored correctly and the vtocs are all over the place (something VxVM does often I now understand).
I would like to get it back to something I recognise and am comfortable working with. BUT, I like a challenge, so I will go home and read some more. When I have some specific questions or get really stuck, if you would be so kind I may ask again.
Thanks as always Anni.
