1. Close Backup Exec (BE)
2. Stop all BE services.
3. In \Program Files\Veritas\Backup Exec\NT\Catalogs, rename the betopcat.idx file to betopcat.old (Note when you are in the Catalogs folder whether there are files with the extension .u01, these are your catalog files.)
4. Start BE services and open BE and check Restore Selections.
If after running another Catalog job, nothing shows up...
1. In BE, Tools|Options|Catalogs tab.
a. Deselect the checkbox for 'Use Storage Media-based Catalogs'
2. Close BE and stop all BE services.
3. Rename Catalogs folder to Catalogsold
4. Create new Catalogs folder in same location.
5. Start BE services, open BE.
6. Run a Catalog job on that tape.
(This second method forces BE to read the entire tape and tell you what is on that tape instead of telling you what is on the tape based upon the catalog header information.)
If this problem persists with your Backup Exec server after reverting back to your old Catalogs folder; it indicates a problem with MDAC / ODBC components in the Windows OS.
