New Sony Dat 40 gig drives, sony 20-40 dds3 and dds4 tapes, did i mention i am a field tech, walking into a IT less envirment of over a 100 workstations and half dozen servers, 3 running veritas in different forms due to there different OS;s, I was called out and asked to check the drives, never havng even looked at one prior. I decided the compaQ and HP dat drives there where bad, we purchased 2 new sonys, i installed got the drivers to work since they where "special" couldnt jus use Windows drivers :)
New Tapes (sony) the data is mixed graphic and regular, (local TV Station)(taking apps) get the old out the new in up and going through the motions aout 28 gigs of combined data, they have succedded all of them, but now the one with the biggest backup job (28 gigs mixed Data) failes as 100 percent, right before it begins the verify, and then apon going through all the data log file event logs, and you start another, to wait approx 15 hours to fail again???

Can you please clearly restate this post?

Matt J.

P.S. Please always take the time to backup any and all data before performing any actions suggested for ANY problem, regardless of how minor a change it might seem. Also test the backup to make sure it is intact.

Backing up a windows 2000 server machine, with dat drives and veritas 8.5 and the backup fails on the second tape jus prior to beginning verify. The drives and tapes are brand new and have succeded in one backup since installed
