Veritas Backup Exec with external CDRWs

Does anyone know if Backup Exec works OK with external CDRW devices (i.e. connected through USB/Firewire cables) please?

Also, when it does the backup, is it a full backup files that W2000 has open(ie. if you restore onto a blank disk, will ALL the files etc. on the original disk be there)?
