Veritas Backup Exec for Windows NT and Windows 2000.
Im trying to figure out how many servers can be backed up by this product. What exactly is "server edition?" If this product is installed on a NT server... how many other servers will it back up?
Thanks. I was assigned this problem, and was trying to gather a little information on the subject. With your help, I found out what I needed to know and what I needed to get. Thanks.
I have two NT4.0 servers, one external tape drive and Backupexec v8.6. Can anyone advise me on what I need and how I can backup two servers with what I have. I'm pretty new to this kind of stuff, so can you be as detailing as possible.
First, you should start a new post in this forum, don't 'tag' onto someone else's post....reason: you can get better help that way. Your post is different from the one you tagged onto, so people who can help you might not know about your query.
Now onto your question....are your servers part of a cluster or are they standalone? Is your external tape drive part of a tape library? At a minumum, I believe you need two licenses for BE v8.6, two copies (licenses) of Remote Agent Option v8.6. If you are using a tape library, you'll need one copy of Library Expansion Option.
select 'online documentation'
select 'Backup Exec'
select 'Backup Exec for Windows NT and 2000'
select the administrator's manual for the language you desire.
It's worth looking through, especially the parts about the available options.
