I am trying to extract the data from a backup tape that was created with Veritas Backup Exec. backup application, version 8.5 on Windows NT 4.0. We use ARCserve2k running on Windows NT 4.0 for our backup/recovery operation and do not have access to Veritas Backup Exec. Any advice/suggestion/help will be much appreciated.

I hope you get something useful from somewhere. Just to share my own experiences: I tried the demo of Backup Exec (ver 8 for Netware) for awhile. After returning to ArcServe, I found that I couldn't even erase the tapes I had used with BE. Finally threw them away...

Sorry,
Lola

I have found that reading an Arcserve tape using Backup Exec works a treat, but reading a Backup Exec tape in Arcserve does not work.

Try downloading a demo of Backup Exec for your OS and using that to restore your data.
