veritas backup exec loses scheduled backups

im using backup exec version 4.6 for about a year and now for some unknown reason it keeps losing the scheduled backup.
this is a windows 98 system and i have tried putting the schedualed job back in task schedular it will work for one day then disappear, i have also reloaded backup exec with the same results.

we also have other customers with the same problems.

if anyone can help, please respond this is urgent...
