Hello, I've got trouble to restore our backup jobs. It's Netware 5.1 the backupsoftware is veritas backup 9.0 4019.

The backup job works fine and in the backup report there are no mistakes. When I try to restore a backup it takes a very long time to open the tape mediaset (about 40 minutes for only a few small files). But the restore is done successfully.

A few days ago I've got the following event message in the veritas logfile when backing up files:

> I try to restore a file and I get an alert "Transltion error on media on
HA: ID:2 LUN:0
> Sony SDX-300C. Please consult the Administrators manual for possible
solutions."
>
> In the job log the error is " Media format incosistency has been detected
> (24616).

The I've found a solution on the veritas knowledgebase that works for me:

Turn off fast file access in the SYS:BKUPEXEC\BESRVR.CFG file
Bestop, edit the above file. The line you want is "Use_fast_file_access =
1" - change the 1 to a 0, save, and bestart again. Should get you back the
file you want.

I think the problems belong together. Any ideas what I can try?

Thx a lot!

Kind regards!
