Im attemptiing to backup indiviudal mail boxes on my exchange server for obvious reasons. i use veritas backp exec and a compaq autoloader the device works properly when backing up volumes and other data however the problem is with the software when i try to expand the Microsoft Exchange Mailboxes a dialog box appears asking me to input the default backup exec mailbox. but when i input the correct info it tells me it cannot attach to the exchange server. any ideas? i know its more leaning to the veritas side of the fence as opposed to the exchange server side but i figured what the heck.

You need to have a backup exec user and that user needs to be listed in the exchange container properties.

Then you will be ok. Assume you have the Exchange agent running in BE.

I think you need to create a mailbox in Exchange for Backup Exec to use to log in to the exchange database. This has to be an entirely unique name, meaning that if even a part of the mailbox name is already in use by another mailbox, then it won't work! See for more information on this. Give this mailbox the Backup Exec service NT account as it's primary windows NT account, and you should be able to log in to the exchange database from backup exec just fine.

Adrian.
