Veritas 9 - Bar codes and media labels

Has anyone noticed that in Veritas 9, when you change the tapes in a library that has a bar code scanner, when you do a scan it changes the text in the "Bar Code" column, but not in the media label column. In Veritas 8.6 when you would scan the barcodes, it would assume that the bar codes really meant that those tapes were in there.

With v9 I have to run an inventory regardless of the barcodes..

Am I doing something wrong? Do I need to enable something that I haven't?

Update!

I realized that the behavior I described only applied to tapes (barcodes) that it hadn't seen before. If a particular tape had been used sometime in the past and the barcode/label is in BENT's databse, then it accepts the barcode as the tape's label automatically.
