Hi everyone,
Having this nagging problem with my Veritas backup exec. I setup new backup jobs on all 3 of our servers (running the same version, same configurations), but just one of my servers keeps throwing this error -

Media '4MM000004' is overwrite protected.

The media in drive 'HP 1' is currently allocated and is not available for overwrite operations.

Anyone know how I can correct it? I've used the same type of media that works in the others and I've even tried using brand new media. Thanks for any and all help.

What media set does it belong to? Is it in a media set that has infinte overwrite protection?

steveot,
Unfortunately I'm not very experienced with Veritas (only been using it at this job and I've only been here for 1 month), your post with regard to media set prompted me to go through and delete all the retired sets. It worked, I tested on a full backup and scheduled a backup and it worked fine.

To be honest, I don't know why my company invested in this software when company policy is a full backup nightly, we could've used ntbackup for that.

Although I will be looking further as the time comes up into working with veritas more in-depth as I know a lot of companies use it and it would look good on my resume.

Thank you for your advice.
