I hope someone can help, I've been scratching my head about this for a few days...
We have a Win2k server with Exchange 5.5 running on the same machine.
Until recently we were using McAfee antivirus and groupshield to protect it all, now we have changed to Computer Associates eTrust Antivirus 7 and its built in exchange scanner.
It seems to be since then, that the backup has not worked. Scheduled and manual backup tasks seem to either stay with the staus of 'queued' or start running, but never backup any data.
I'm new to administration of an actual PDC and Exchange server so unsure if I've actually set the Antivirus to skip the right areas and the like so as not to interfere with things. Which I'm thinking is whats causing the problem with Veritas.
If the backup job stays in the queued state, it seems that the job engine service stops, or if I open the Backup Exec programme, the job engine service will stop. Often I have to restart the job engine, or the backup exec server to get anywhere.
If the job gets to the running state (which it did for the first time today for a few days after rebooting the server last night), the byte count stays at 0 while the job time continues to go up and I have to restart the backup exec server service to cancel the job.
If anyone has any suggestions or can point me to somewhere to check I've got the Antivirus set up correctly (if thats the issue) it would be most appreciatted!
Thanks
Adrian
