“Run Now” Backup, or schedule jobs never run

If I schedule a backup job, or choose “Run Now”, the job never runs. It simple stays as a scheduled backup job.
Veritas v8.6, Windows2000 server, service pack 4.

I have tried rebooting the server, stopping, and starting all the Backup Exec services.
Looking thru Veritas support, they recommend deleting the bewinnt7.sch file. (in case the schedule file is corrupt) This deletes all schedule jobs. It did not work.

Just prior to this happening, the last backup job failed, with no explanation. When I try to view the backup log, it says:
“Unable to access the job log with this completed job. The file may no longer exist, or you may not have access rights to this file.”

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance,

last time i saw this problem that was very similar it was cause the BE Job Engine was not started.

Thanks for the reply,

Originally I also thought it was something simple.

The service “Backup Exec 8.x Job Engine” was already running, process name “bengine.exe” is also running. (most likely bengine is for this service)

back to the drawing board...

Reinstalling may have been your only option. It possible that a file got moved or corrupted.

In the future, I suggest that you use the REPAIR option of the install before uninstalling/reinstalling. If that doesn't solve a problem, then you can uninstall/reinstall.

Also, check drivers. A corrupt/missing driver could have caused the problem.

I know....a little bit late on the suggestions.
