verifying label, moving backward two files.. 1

I have a problem with stuck tapes in the "verifying label, moving backward two files" process..
This happened since we upgraded to 6.1.2 on our server.

A tape is loaded in the slot but never mounted.. It doesnt happens all the time and it isnt not the same tape or drive when it occurs. Very strange.

Our enviorment:
W2K SP 2 server with Legato 6.1.2
L700 Jukebox with 3 SDLT drives
SAN with Storage nodes with DDS.

I heard that there may be a patch for this problem, esecially in with silos and in a SAN enviroment.. Does anyone know anything about that?

At this point, ou might be better off to either:

- go back to n/w 6.1.1

- wait for 6.1.3

You should contact Legato Tech Support ofr information on any patches that may resolve your issue.

have you made sure to make the tape drives unavailable to windows 2000?

- from manager disable windows control of the jukebox
storage
removeable storage
physical locations
quantum dlt 7000
drives
right click in right window
properties
uncheck enable

Thanks a lot for your suggestions.

Yes i have disabled the windows control of the drives on the W2K server and the W2K SAN nodes. On the backupserver I have also disabled the "Removable Storage" service.

I had the same issue on Networker 6.1.2 and Legato provided me with several patches, the last one was activated last thursday 28/11 and seems to solve the problem.
They classified it under the following patch number LGTpa41014, but ask for the final fix of this patch.
They should then provide you with a new "nsrmmd.exe" and "libnsr.dll".
Shutdown networker, copy these files over the originals and start networker.

Experience tells me it is sometimes difficult to get patches from Legato, if so let me know, i can mail them to you.
The problem will also be solved in version 6.1.3 which they told me will normally be released by the end of the year

I have still not got the nsrmmd patch that solves my problem. So anybody out there who got it please mail me on firecracker@rixmail.se

So long, I have uninstalled 6.1.2 on my Storage nodes and there are much less tapes that are stucked now. So 6.1.2 on only the backup server seems to be pretty okey.

NetWorker 6.1.3 is out now... I believe that some nsrmmd patches are in this maintenance release.

Try installing 6.1.3 on your backup server and storage nodes.
