Twice I have gotten the error that the file data has changed in the Verify Log. Two other times, I have gotten the error Data Error (Cyclic Redundancy Check). Are these problems related? Any ideas on fixing it? I really need a full back-up now.
Thanks

They could be related.

Few things we need to establish first.

1. What version/revison Backup Exec (8.6 Rev 3878)?
2. What tape drive/media are you using?

NB: If you are using DLT or LTO unit, you don't need to do a software verify (in the backup job), as modern tape drives do a hardware verify (built in feature).

3. Ensure you are using a cleaning tape at least once a month.

4. Have you run a chkdsk on the server, to weed out any corrupted files, etc. ?

5. Have you got the Backup Exec "Open File Option" installed ?

Regards,

John.
