Verifying DMI pool data

Hi guys,
I have a Pentium 3 733MHz 128 MB.
I had a power failure and then when the electricity came it bursted the power supply. I got a new power supply and then booted the computer. while booting it gets stuck at "Verifying DMI pool data...". The hard disk is perfectly alright as I booted up with the HD in safe mode on another computer and everything on the disk is intack and working. The only thing I suspect is the BIOS having some problem.

Things I tried:
clear the CMOS by removing the battery from the Mother Board and also read the MB Manual to clear the BIOS. Followed this site:

The problem is that I want to flash the BIOS as I see that as the last option that may do the trick. BUT the computer wouldn't boot from a Win98 startup disk!!! I also tried resetting the BIOS defaults. Is the motherboard gone??? Does this mean I have to buy a new computer.

Anyone been through this problem? any ideas?

Try disconnecting (or disabling in bios) all hardware except the processor, RAM, keyboard & graphics card/monitor. If it now boots past 'verifying...', just reconnect one at a time to find the problem device.

Also;
Make sure the HDD IDE Config is set to "AUTO".
Make sure the Floppy Controller is enabled AND Floppy (A:\) is Listed as First Boot Device, and the parameters are correct for floppy in BIOS (ie. 3-1/4, not LS-120, etc)

Try a new/ diff Win98 Startup disk;

Got a Win98 CD?
set the CDROM as first boot device in BIOS, then Floppy , then HDD and if you want to boot to HDD just remove all CDs/diskettes.

tried disabling everything in BIOS and then enabling. Alos tried booting from a different boot disk. Same issue. Everytime the FFD's light goes on but it dosn't boot from it it comes out and detects the HDisk, CDROM, Floppy, RAM, PCI Device listing, everything correctly during POST.
Then its say:

Updating ESCD...
Building DMI Pool...
Verifying Pool Data.....

and halts there.

In bios setup:
No stop on errors.
Take out everything except the video board (this unit doesn't have onboard video does it?)
Unplug all the drives, mouse and keyboard.

It won't boot up and you'll have to pull the plug to shut it off, but you should get past the ESCD to "No System Found". If not, your bios chip may be bad.

after testing with micker377's suggestions;

have you tried to Boot from 98 OEM CDROM? (set BIOS to boot from cdrom as first boot device)...if no go change it back to floppy as first boot device, cdrom 2nd and HDD third.

A Flash BIOS Disk doesn't need the win98 startup disk stuff.....can you create one on another PC and bring it to yours, and boot from it and flash....remember to move the jumper on mobo if necessary.

Is that an older mobo?
Is it a Compaq or HP?

In BIOS - Disable "Quick Boot" and/or "Silent Boot" (you probably already have if you can read the screen during POST) as it'll test the Memory though not thoroughly, nonetheless a test.

have you tried different memory modules - they're very sensitive

just read a litlle bit of article you posted - and Set the PlugnPlay BIOS to NO. Clear the ESCD and exit saving changes and reboot.

I don't agree with this statement / procedure from that article either...but you never know - the writer may know something I don't. If you followed step by step and you flashed the BIOS and have gotten to this point (take your pick..or wait for others to weigh in).

I'd leave PlugnPray to off, and Clearing the ESCD won't hurt, though prolly not necessary.

When you had your disk on other box...do a Scandisk from Safe Mode?
