I see I need to run the command below and i assumed via telnet, but i was unable to establish a connection with a serial cable to a notebook via hyper terminal. If anyone can assist me, that would be great.

thanks

Assuming the parameters are correct for the serial console:

9600bps, 8 bits, no parity, 1 stop bit, no flow control

but why not just telnet as suggested?

When I telnet in using the ip of the 3300, i connect to one of our two SX2000 per nodes , and don't know how to telnet into the ip of the 3300.

I did check those parameters for hyperterminal and it didnt work. Maybe i have the wrong type of cable but its a 9 pin male / female. I also thought maybe there is a security mechanism to disable the maintenance port?

I think it is a special pin-out, I can't recall, someone should have it or it should be in the docs somewhere. Sorry, can't help there.

As for the telnet, just use putty and connect to port 2002. Just search the forum, there are lots of threads on this.

Pins 1-8 straight at each end will get you into the maintenance port of a 3300/SX2000 and is the same for SMDR cable

I was able to telnet in and get the information. I wonder why they dont offer this information via the web gui, maybe in a future version.

Thanks for everyones help.

You cannot telnet to a serial port unless you are using a iPocket (network to serial) device.

You can connect to the maint port with a regular DB9 serial cable.

Did they drop the TLS for telnet connections? I know on the 200 you need that telnet-tls client.

i googled for an ssl shareware telnet client and used port 2002

Putty works just fine.
You need to set the client to be in "Raw" mode, and rather than SSH or telnet.
