Saw it here before and can't seem to find it....

looking for one of those handy 800 numbers to dial from a pots and have an automated responce tell me what number I am caling from.

I often dial my cell and check caller ID, but when in a basement with no signal, this does no good. I am in the chicago metro (SBC - formerly ameritech) region if it makes a difference.

In case they change it use your favorite internet search program and search for "anac numbers", poof a whole bunch of sites pops up.

anac = automatic number announcement circuit.

You might also try 959-1122. This seems to be standard for SBC in California and Oklahoma so far and maybe Texas.
