i'm using crxi release 2 on a sql database.

verify database should look at my table for changes that i've made to it. sometimes when i delete or add a field, it says that the database is up to date when it is not because a deleted field will still appear and new fields will not be available.

is there a way to really 'verify database'?

This works perfectly and has for years. I would download any service packs available. Do you have more than 1 data source in use?

"What version of URGENT!!! are you using?

i think i'm using whatever updates were included in release 2. i'm using multiple tables from my SQL database though. would that somehow mess it up? CR will ask me to update each table when i verify the DB and say it is updated even though it really hasnt

This may not be relevant to your situation, but some databases are only updated periodically, so that you could delete records, but the change would not appear until the next time the database uploads the changes, e.g., a change made today might not appear until the next day.

well its weird because sometimes when i verify the database, it will see the changes instantly, and sometimes it wont. i'm connecting to tables via a command. do you think that has anything to do with it? i've never really had this problem before. sometimes it wouldnt verify correctly, but after 2 or 3 times of doing it, it would eventually work.

I'm not sure, but I don't see why a command would behave any differently in this regard.

This is rather silly question, but are you sure your updates to the SQL DB are saving? Are you going back after a change and testing to see if the change stuck? I've worked with Crystal for years and have never had a problem with this function. I have had issues with changes sticking in a DB. I would also question why you are deleting stuff from the DB. I would go back and verify your DB changes.

i'm not making changes to the SQL database itself, but rather the tables that i am pointing the crystal reports to. and yes i am saving the changes i've made. for some reason it seems that if i close out of the crystal report and open it fresh, verify database seems to work a bit better.

it seems like this function has worked perfectly for everyone else...and it has for me too up until this point. now that i think about it, it could be a 'citrix' issue since this is the first time i've been running crystal remotely.

citrix is a program that i can use to remotely access our sql database and crystal reports.

With Excel spreadsheets, I've noticed that if I update the data, I need to save and close out of the spreadsheet, close the report in CR, and then reopen CR and reopen the report in order to see updated data.
