How does the passport 8000 chassis "8600&8100's" use the boot.cfg and config.cfg in their short form...ie the smaller file you get if you do not use the "verbose" option? Is the small file just the entries that are different from the factory defaults? If so do most of you keep the smaller file on the box and backup the verbose file offsite for disaster recovery or is it OK to save the smaller file as your backup??? Would like pros/cons from your experience. Thanks...kjg

The "little" file is all you need. It includes changes from default. It is good enough for backup also.

The verbose file is good to have if:
- you should do changes with the edit command on the switch, and then do a later reboot.
- you wants to save it locally on your PC, to see all configuration options.

I do not use verbose mode, have never felt the need for it.
