I have 9 different servers running Veritas 9, and a few of them give me this message when a job skips a file.

NOTE: The backup job was configured to use the Advanced Open File Option. However, files were skipped during backup processing. Please ensure that the Media Server ORL-FS1 is properly licensed with the Advanced Open File Option, or that the job is properly targeted for media servers that are licensed with the Advanced Open File Option.

None of the jobs have AOFO checked, we don't even own any licenses for it.

Has anyone seen similar behavior? I'm off to start plodding through Veritas' site right now....

I'm not sure what the menu would look like if you don't have an OFO license installed, but it's worth checking out. When you set up the backup job, is OFO set to "automatic", meaning you let Backup Exec determing what it wants to use? Maybe you need to turn the OFO option off?
