Hiya,
Welp, I have a project that requires vectorizing a topographic map (contour map). Now, I'm pretty good at a number of tools, I've been using PS for since version 3 nearly every day for example. However, I'm an illustrator noob.
I have separated each contour (basically a 3 pixel wide squiggly line) into separate layers in PS. I can save each one as a separate file and then open it in Illustrator. Then the trouble starts.
This squiggly line is raster. I want vector. When I use the live trace option in illustrator, it does vectorize the line, but it turns it into "shapes" enclosed by vectors (um...line segments and nodes). What I want is a single vector line down the center of the raster line.
Make sense? Tips - tricks - guides? I'd appreciate it.
I've actually made it sound more comples than I think it is.
