Hi,

I've downloaded an image to use for a logo from stock expert and it delieverd as an EPS file. I've tried using the scissor tool to cut sections of the logo out, I've also tried ungrouping the vector as it's made up from multiple shapes that aren't connected but nothing changes.

Is there something other than ungroup that I can use to make this vector shape editable?!

...vector art can be a complex beast to unravel...

...it is likely it is a compound path, this can be (depending in our version of illustrator) determined by way of the layers palette by expanding the structure in the layers palette, it will be labelled as <compound path> if it is the case, to turn a compound into a path you can select all the art on the artboard and choose object > compound path > release...

...by doing this however, any paths that make what were once 'holes' will become separate objects, meaning the holes will disappear...

...using the white arrow tool does allow you to select more finer elements and fine tune edits to a path, whether or not it is a compound path...

i would like to add that there is almost no point doing this as even simple images with more than one compound path will almost litteraly fall to pieces when you release the path. even if you release to layers from within the layers pallet.

feel your pain though, had to do it more than once. was quicker to rebuild from scratch.
