I AM UNABLE TO ADD/CHANGE A VECTOR DIRECTORY NUMBER - EACH ATTEMPT REPLY: ENTRY OUT OF RANGE WHEN ENTERING NEW VECTOR NUMBER.

I HAVE MADE THE REQUIRED DIALPLAN ANALYSIS CHANGES.... I CANNOT LOCATE ANY OTHER DOCUMENTATION. I DON'T WANT TO OPEN CREATE AN SR JUST FOR SOMETHING THAT I AM SURE IS POSSIBLY VERY SIMPLE, BUT OVERLOOKED.

ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED.

SEMPER FI

How long is the VDN number?
Can you do 'add vdn next'?
Does 'display capacity' show that you have enough licenses to add another vdn?

You can't change an existing vdn either?
Is the error related to the vdn or the vector field in the vdn?

VDN = 4 DIGITS

I CAN ADD WITH NO PROBLEM.
MY OBJECTIVE IS TO CHANGE EXISTING VDN FROM 2XXX TO 8XXX.

NO LICENSE ISSUE.
VDN AVAILABLE: 29519
VECTORS AVAILABLE: 7516

I CAN CHANGE THE VDN - BUT WILL NOT ACCEPT VECTOR NUMBER.
ERROR IS THE VECTOR NUMBER FIELD ON THE CHANGE VDN PAGE.

THANKS FOR THE REPLY - APPRECIATED!!

The system doesn't allow an extension to be changed on an object already defined. You can duplicate the 2xxx vdn and create the 8xxx vdn.

What is the vector number you're trying to use?
Hit F5 when you're on the vector field and see what the system will allow. My system allows vector range between 1-8000.

SEAN... YOU ARE VERY CLOSE TO MY ISSUE. I AM TRYING TO ADD/CHANGE A VECTOR ABOVE 8000. SPECIFICALLY 8480....

THANKS FOR YOUR INPUT!!!

APPRECIATED.

VDNs are dialable extensions.

Vectors are call scripts, but they're things that exist and are numbered sequentially in the system from the beginning. Like route patterns - you can have up to 2000 of them. You can't add or remove them, you can only change them.

So, I think CM's just telling you that you have to use the vector numbering it has - to "change vector" and help - it'll probably say to enter a number between 1-2000 or something

Code:
If you hit help on the Vector Number field when you use Command: change vdn xxxx
you will see your system capacity for valid vector numbers.

BHS,

EXCELLENT DISPLAY OF AVAYA KNOWLEDGED, MOST APPPRECIATED. YET - MY QUESTION/MYSTERY STILL GOES UNANSWERED.

FOR YOU, A BASIC SUMMARY QUESTION: HOW DO I EXCEED "8000"? HOW DO I CREATE A VDN/VECTOR ABOVE THE "8000" RANGE?

THAT IS THE REFERENCE DOCUMENTATION THAT I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO VALIDATE AT THIS TIME.

IS "8000" THE MAXIMUM LIMIT ON ALL AVAYA CM'S???

THANKS AGAIN TO ALL "AVAYA BROTHERS"!!

You can have 30,000 vdns
vdn's could be 8000 to 8999 if your dialplan allows 4 digit extension length beginning with digit 8

vector limit of 8000 is a limit on software records 1 to 8000 to hold data for vectors in the software tables.

System limits may be different for CM versions and hardware platforms.

See page 21 in the document:

BSH,

THANK YOU FOR THAT CONFIRMATION - PER REFERENCE DOCUMENT. I HAVE THE DOCUMENT IN MY TOOLBOX, DID NOT TAKE TIME TO REVIEW BEFORE PINGING THE FORUM.

RESOLUTION: 8000 IS THE LIMIT OF MY CAPABILITY.

GREATLY APPRECIATE INPUT FROM EVERYONE!!
