Has anyone ever seen a case where hundreds of VDM*.TMP files are being created in a program folder or sub-folder? I'm having this issue with a 16-bit FoxPro application, and only when it's running in a Novell environment.

Foxpro does create .tmp files. We have that issue all the time. The program usually has a temp variable set up in it, or it has a specific directory listed to use as the temp folder.
They are supposed to be deleted when the program exits, but hardly ever do.
What we have done is put a line in the autoexec.bat (you could use usrlogon.cmd) to look for the files and delete them if they are there.
Example:
IF EXIST C:\TEMP\*.TMP DELETE C:\TEMP\*.TMP

This keeps them to a minimum.

True, but these TMP files seem to ignore those system variables and they wind up being created in various places. Again, this only occurs in a Novell environment. I'm beginning to think that this variable information is not being passed correctly through the Novell client. We might look at implementing a login script temp variable and a scheduled cleanup routine on the server. I'd believe the application variable, if not for the fact that the files are named VDM*.TMP, referring to the NT DOS VDM subsystem.

Thanks
