SIP - Session Initiated Protocol "Standard".
Glad you asked the question earlier: Check out BCR, pages 35-38 "Enterprises are Dinking the SIP Kool-Aid and Buying It Too" by Steven Guthrie, October, 2004 Issue (sitting on my desk)
Anyway- Northwest Properties "is now installing SIP Based 3Com VCX V7000.. they sound like a beta site mentioned in this article. Contact is Sean McRae. One install noted is in Clackamas Oregon....go Beaverton !!!!
SIP (IMHO) does offer promise. Application, Application, Application. For example - PingTel has a Phone with an app that gives hotel guests access to the Menu, Room Service, and other hospitality features such as the weather, news, etc.... all from the phone. The interoperability is what probably is equal to the applications. In the overall scheme of things- will SIP enable TELECOM or disable it ? Meaning, what level of complexity will it bring ?
This is the first known KILL to me, on who has the VCX, but then again, there's probably more locations and my guess, my gut... tells me too LOOK at Nevada County, CA. I don't get out much.
