Question: Under VCS I have an resource , which when I run hagrp -dep <resource name> lists 2 child dependencies :

#Group Parent Child
xxxxxx yyyyyyy Starrtb1
xxxxxx yyyyyy MQSeries

I guess before I can on-line yyyyy resource I would need these 2 child resources onlined first ?

Also if MQ is running can I kill all the ipcs -a processes whilst MQ is running or should I shut down mqm first ?

If I shut down MQ would it off line my yyyyyy resource and should I end MQ via VCS or cmd line ?

Cheers for the help

In VCS environment, all the child resources run after the parent resources are made online.. Alternatively, since it is a tree structure, u need to online the dependant parent resources first, then online the required resource.

If u can elaborate more exactly what exactly u need to do, we can discuss it out..

Hi thanks for the reply, was not sure if people discussed VCS and VM on here , as the web site ( is hard work if yo udo not know the command.

Problem I had was I had a lot of rogue mq process running and ipcs -a | grep mqm | grep mqm , should a lot. At the time i did not realise that when i stopped /killed rogues /started mq is also killed my main application.

Hence it took me ages on the veritas site to find the -dep commnad, think I will use that q lot now.

Other main question was , can you kill rogue or ipcs -a while mqm is running , or do i need to plan a down time to do this ?

If you know of any andy VCS or vm cmds would greatly Appreciate that or a web site to ponder over
