After installing SP4 on WIN2000 Pro my MFC test program could not find help file during compile.
Foolishly, I tried reinstalling VC++ ! I received an error dialog saying something about DCOM failure and the installation failed. I deleted all Visual Studio because I went thru this before and refuse to troubleshoot MS stuff. Same thing – detecting same DCOM failure error, installation failed!
I have been using SAME installation process on same OS except no with no SP packs installed.
So it looks like SP4 and VC++ setup does not mix. I suppose uninstalling SP4 then installing Visual Studio and reinstalling SP4 is an option.
Anybody has a better idea?
Switching to other OS or VC++ development is NOT an option!
