VC++ program and Excel compatibility 2

I'd like to place some numeric datas recorded n my program
in an Excel Document. What should I look at to do so ?

A friend told me about COM, OLE or ActiveX controls. Is one of these useful ?

CodeGuru has some sample code for automating Microsoft Word. Obviously that's not exactly what you want to do, but the techniques might be similar.
