I have just started windows programming with VC++ 6. I want to know whether I should concentrate on .NET or VC++ 6. What is the difference? Is VC++ 6 obsolete?
Actually, Microsoft seems to think that C# .NET is the future...for everything. From what I understand, Longhorn has completely redone Windows so that code in C# will be very fast, as fast as Win32 is for C++. Productivity is dramatically increased as well. As someone who uses DirectX with C++, I can certainly tell that far less work goes into writing something with managed C# is much easier than with unmanaged C++, and it is like 97% as fast in C#. I wish I could afford Visual Studio .NET .
