VC++ 6.0 Refuses to Compile 1

Hello, I recently purchased a copy of Visual C++ 6.0 Standard Edition so that I could code my class assignments at home and to help me get my business off of the ground. I have never had any experience with this sort of problem and cannot think of a cause of it other than perhaps I've installed something incorrectly though the installation went smoothly.

The compiler in the studio state (where you type in and modifry code) works just fine and there are no problems with calling up various aspects of the compiler. However, even if there are no errors in your code when you hit the "Run" button or go through the menu buttons to "Run" a program it comes up with a standard Windows 98 Error Dialog box saying MSDEV has caused an invalid page fault. After you say okay to this a second warning dialog box pops up that saying simply, "Cannot initialize the debugging subsystem." Building a project or compiling a project work perfectly, but you cannot run a program.

This is probably linked to it, but whenever you say to try and "Debug" something from the standard Win98 Error Dialog boxes you get the same response but then the compiler crashes and burns. It does not lockup the system.

My machine is an HP Pavilion 8660C with a Voodoo 5 5500 PCI graphics card, a standard PnP monitor, a 4x DVD-ROM and 4/2/28 CD-RW. It has an ethernet card and is linked to a switch running the house network. I was not sure if any of this was essential for this kind of technical question so I thought it would be good to include it. Thank you in advance for the help.

Alright, I figured out how to solve it for my particular machine. Apparently they only included the third service pack with the studio and it required a fourth service pack (though this problem was not among the bug fixes listed) to make it work. If this happens to anyone else I suggest trying this. You may need to do some digging on their site to find it, however.
