How do I run a macro or script on open for an excel document? Anyone remember this? I think MS stopped documenting the feature since Excel'97.

What I am working on needs to be backwards compatible to at least Excel 97.

Hello noober,

I guess Sub Auto_Open() is one candidate for doing that.

In the Code part of ThisWorkbook:
Private Sub Workbook_Open()
End Sub

Hope This Help

ive got an extensive example on how to run a script when you open any excel document, i.e. any existing document or a new one, i.e. you dont have to edit each documents open() method...other than that the previous posts would be what you want if its for one particular file

regards

Sounds like PHV has what I need, but I would love to see your example too mrmovie...sounds like your doing something clever.
