Does anyone know where I can get a good VBA book---general stuff about writing in code? Or a certain title? I've written some minor programs in MS Access but now I'm starting in Excel. Everything is in code whereas in Access I could get away with using some macros. Everyone tells me that Excel is a lot easier then Access...I never used Excel before so it just seems a little harder:) Any suggestions on a book would be appreciated.

Excel is ok, but access is far more powerful. Depends if you want a database or not. If you do, use access.

I'm not sure what type of programming you mean.

Do you want to put your database stuff on the web?

Do you just want to become a small database (access) programmer?

If you gave an infinate number of rednecks, an infinate number of shotguns to shoot at an infinate number of street signs, they would eventually write Romeo and Juliet in braille.

By programming I mean that I've created different front ends to different databases so that the employees could use them.
I just need a book that will...well, teach me VBA.
The reason I'm talking about Excel is because my boss has created a sort of 'front end' for excel. He wants me to create a form that has a combo box on it that will pull up the chosen customers information(address, ph#, etc.) I would be able to do it in Access really easy but he wants me to use excel so I can become more familiar with it. Any suggestions on books for VBA or Excel would be helpful.

redneck joke?

I have no idea. You should tell your boss he's not making a logical choice. Excel isn't made to be a database, it's made to be a spreadsheet, and you won't get very far when he realizes "oops, this database can't handle what I want to do".

Sorry, I can't help you here.

Another way round could be to link the excel spreadsheet into Access! File, Get External Data, Link Table. But I expect you have thought of that! Learn something new every day *:->*
