I apologize for asking this question, i'm sure it's already been addressed in here at some point, but a search didn't turn up much.

Can someone tell me what the fundamental difference between VBA and VB is? Why didn't Microsoft just embed regular VB into it's apps?

Thanks

As far as I am aware.....
VBA is a language that was designed to work within the database environment and allow for the manipulation and presentation of data programatically. This language has been extended over a number of years to encompass other software applications and to form a linking mechanism between a family of applications that will allow complete interoperability. These features and functions were originally intended to be used by non-classical programmers and could be delivered by experienced users willing to be educated specifically in this data manipulation and linking.
Visual Basic is a Windows based extension of the earlier Basic languages and is a complete computer language in its own right.
This is not a comprehensive explanation but I think it covers the highlights.

Hi
I was going to try and summarise the intro to a book I have "VB & VBA In A Nutshell" but managed to find an online version

If this link doesn't work you can start from and search on book title etc.

At the end of it you may wish you never asked, especially if you consider the first three sentences of the preface, which in essence contradict what I thought to be true about the relationship between the two!!

Good Luck
