I just picked up a copy of VB 6 Learning Edition to see if I could learn a little bit about it. It installed okay and operated fine from the admin account, but when I tried to run VB from a non admin account it would not run. The message I got was something like "you don't have sufficient privileges". I logged into the admin account and checked file permissions and found them to be set correctly.
Next I ran a file monitoring program to see what was going on and I found that the startup failure came when the path to a file C:\winnt\system32\msvbvm60.dll\3 could not be found. I checked for the file and found it except for the \3. I'm not sure what the \3 at the end of the path means but I suspect it is some kind of switch that controls the action of the dll file.
I have done several searches on this subject but haven't found anything that is really helpful. I know the problem is linked to the setting of permissions but I can't find a helpful answer.
By the way I'm running Windows 2000 with the latest VB 6 runtimes installed. I do not have any of the VB visual studio updates installed.
Thanks for any assistance!
