Excuse me. Is there a great difference between VB6 and VB.Net. If yes, what is the hope of a good VB6 programmer desiring to write the new MCSD.

Yes...a lot of differences, but there are a lot of similarities too.
If you are a good VB6 programmer it is certainly doable. You'll have to get familiar with the .NET Framework and review the list of language differences between VB6 and VB.NET (most books and MSDN help give a recap of these). This helps tremendously because MS will use some of the VB6 ways of doing things as wrong answers to try to distract you.
1. Get you a couple of good books (but MSDN has a lot....I probabaly would not have bought as many books and used MSDN more if I had it to do over again)
2. Get you a good practice test - the one from Self Test Software is GREAT! (
3. Install VB.NET so you can do some practicing.
...and using all the tools and some prep time, you can do it!!
