Hi all,

I am wanting to write a little program that will scan a txt file for a specific word..if it finds it, I need it to e-mail me the whole line from the text document.

I am not sure if this is possible, but thought I would check here to see if anyone could help me out with it.

Thanks,

Hiya,

It's absolutely possible (I'm here to ensure that you don't give up).

Search for 'text search file' on the 'net' and you'll find billions of files with help.

(Just remember to include the development tool that you are using in the the string e.g. 'text search file vb', or 'text search file cobol' - or you may aswell retire right now. ;-)

Thanks for the help Darrylles.

The Text file I want to search is generated everyday by a program. How do I set a variable so that it will only search the text file for the day that the program is running. IE: today is the 27th..so I only want it to search todays file.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
