VB.net vs. VB.studio vs. VB6 for exe's

I have a few apps already started in VB6. The apps will ultimately become .exe files intended for installation on PC's. The apps do not do anything with the Web.

I'm trying to determine whether I should finish the apps. in VB6 and distribute as .exe, or is there a good reason to upgrade and complete the apps using VB.net?

After reading a few threads, e.g., 796-437081, 796-436857, 796-437598, it sounds like VB6 is easier to program in and might be a better bet for production of non-web based apps in order to avoid including the 20 mb .Net-framework installation required by VB.net apps.

Perusing the threads of this forum and seeing all the problems folks are having with VB.net is scaring me! If most of the apps I plan to write are not intended for the web, would I be better off just sticking with VB6? What would I be missing? It also sounds like one needs VB.studio ($$$) rather than VB.net if one wishes to obtain a number of "wizards" to make the process less painful.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks much.

I am not going to give advice either which way but just some more food for thought. The binary that is created by .Net can be reversed engineered. In fact if you search the web I bet you will come across it. It reproduces the binary of even dot net in C#.

Good Luck
