vb.net - import system.math

I am a beginner tryng out an example in one of my books. I referenced BOL and this didn't help either.

I need to reference the math libary according to the books syntax is "Imports System.Math" at the top of the form code viewer. I have tried it every where and it still does not work.

The example calls for referencing Excel 10.0, mine in 9.0 (Office 2000). Is this the problem or something else?
