Hope this is the correct forum. My situation is that I have a VB6 project using Access and CR9. On one of the forms I insert a picture of each person. To do this, I have a string field in Access and place the pic name, i.e. kim.jpg, into the database. Did this to keep the database at a minimum and to also utilize a union select for the report.

Now I want to use the same picture in a CR9 report such as a Name tag printing.

However, if I insert the field into my CR report only the name shows up. If I change the Access field to OLE, it makes the union select inoperable.

Is there another way to accomplish this?

Thank you.

Hi Kim,

I only know of one way to do this and it works for me - create an additional field in Access (A BLOB field), and store the photo in this field. - Crystal Reports can only display dynamic information of any kind if it is ina db or associated text files, etc. - It cannot pull a photo from a disk drive directory - nor can it report on a union field of two different data types.

Crystal is powerful but sometimes I think we expect a little too much from it.

I hope this helps you!

Cheers,

If you store a proper http link to the file in the database, then you can then right click that field in Crystal and select format field->Hyperlink->Current Field Value.

The user can then click it to view the file.

Thank you. As stated if I use a BLOB field or hyperlink it destroys my union select.
