vb connections to oracle 8i database

ok... I like 7 projects that connect to an oracle 8.1.5 database... and each of them acts a little different... any one know of a way of standardizing these connections... I have some asp pages... for reports that will not return any of the id... or foriegn keys...&nbsp;&nbsp;then there are 4 programs that will but the connection is not stable on nt... yet on 9x it seems fine... but then if you don't use the oracle provided driver's it works a bit better... like if you use microsoft's driver.. but you still need the oracle client software installed... to do that... and microsoft's flippin drivers don't give all the return values to let me know if there is an error so I am not completely sure about that... any ideas....
