can i check if a specific file is running?

You can find out anything you want to know with the following API functions: GetCurrentProcessId(), FindWindow(), GetWindow(), GetWindowText (), EnumWindows(), EnumCallback(), CreateToolhelpSnapshot(), ProcessFirst(), and ProcessNext()

Edderic posted an excellent example of CreateToolhelpSnapshot on Feb 6 in the "Unauthorized Applications" thread (posted 2/3/2000). It's worth a look. It can return the MSDOS file name of executed EXEs and DLLs. If you need to return window captions you should use GetWindowText ().

Hope this helps.

<a href= temporary Vorpalcom home page
Send me suggestions or comments on my current software project.
