VB 6 Distribution Won't Print DSR

This program was developed on a machine running VB 6 and CR 8. On my machine the report prints perfectly.

When I install the VB package on an NT machine: I can see the print dialog box fire up and the printer icon appears in the taskbar and then shortly disappears but the printer never prints the report.

I have checked for all the runtime files and they appear to be where they are supposed to be.

The report has a subreport and both contain parameters. I am passing the parameters - (I know it is working because I can print from my machine). I am using a simple report.printout to print it. I have tested with and without the printer selection box. It won't work under either condition on the NT machine.

FYI - I have figured out the problem.

I set the report to print preview instead of simply print. That gave me an error that I could track to the crystal support knowledge base. The support article said that it was a problem with the data access. I changed the database on the report to an active ado connection versus the - more data sources - sql server - connection. I guess you can't use that option if it is a report that will run on a client machine that does not have sql server client installed.

I created a new exe and it worked fine from there.
